Give your skin some extra TLC to keep the cold, windy winter weather from drying it out. Here’s how:
• Change to a heavier face and body cream. This gives you more protection from the cold weather and from dry indoor air.
• Drink water. Even in cold weather, your body and skin need replenishing. Herbal teas with fresh lemon and orange slices or with a touch of honey and fresh ginger are refreshing.
• Moisturize your lips. Buy a good lip balm and keep your lips moist (apply some even before bedtime).
• Apply your eye cream to the top of your eyelids. Invest in a quality eye cream without preservatives and perfumes. The eyelid is very delicate and a good eye cream is a great investment in your skin-care regimen.
• After bathing, apply a sparse coat of bath oil. Neutrogena makes nice light oil.
• For outdoor activities, especially in the snow, remember your sunscreen and protective lip balm. Snow reflects sunlight, so it increases your chance of sunburn. Sunburn plus windburn can leave your skin cracked and painful.
