About Chris

At fifty-something, I'm enjoying life more than ever. One reason is that I'm not counting the years, but the moments! I believe that we can all take charge of our lives and enjoy many active, healthy years. Taking care of your body is to live your best life possible. Today I am committed to helping everyone in the family-parents, children, teens and grandparents--get healthy and stay healthy. Knowledge, attitude and good habits are the keys to health for everyone. My website is devoted to better health, better nutrition, better exercise and a better life for people of all ages.

I grew up overweight and was aware that obesity runs in my family. After giving birth to my daughter, I weighed over 215 pounds, so I decided to get healthy and fit. I went back to college and earned a degree in dietetics, which I put to use eating for health. I also started exercising, including resistance training. Learning about nutrition changed my life and made me aware of the importance not only of wanting to look good, but of feeling good and being strong. I realized the importance of good health and also that I was being a good role model for my daughter. She loved vegetables and other healthy foods because I was eating that way. After the birth of my grandson, I saw how my daughter was teaching him how to eat well and what she had learned from me. These past few years my focus has been on children and their health. My grandchildren have inspired me to help other grandparents and parents teach their children to eat healthy from the start. I have a website designed just for kids so they can learn about nutrition at a very early age and have fun with it. It's those lifelong patterns we learn in childhood that become our routine. Sharing good nutrition and exercise with your children and grandchildren is a bonding experience and shows them you care and love them.

Today I continue to share my knowledge and inspiration to help people develop healthy habits. I am still crusading for health, now concentrating on helping to prevent childhood obesity, which has reached epidemic proportions in our society. I have joined First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Initiative to fight childhood obesity and President Clinton's Healthier Generation. I am working, along with many others, to make a difference for the next generation. It is a dream come true to be doing something I feel so passionate about. I hope my website, books and lesson plans empower all families to become healthier together.
