At fifty-something, I'm enjoying life more than ever. One reason is that I'm not counting the years, but the moments! That is what is most important, living to appreciate the day and not only doing what I can do to attain my goals but to be support system and role model for my children, grandchildren and friends. Since becoming a grandmother, my life has changed in many ways. Having a grandchild made me realize that how we age is up to us, and that age is a gift, if we are lucky enough to attain those years. I believe that we can take charge of our lives and enjoy many years as a vital, active, healthy contributing parents, grandparents and friends. As grandparents, we now have the wisdom and knowledge to pass down to our grandchildren and children the importance of embracing each day with meaning and joy. Taking care of your body is to live your best life possible. My website is now devoted to women, men, families, children and teens in hopes they become healthier and happier together.
I grew up overweight and was aware that obesity runs in my family. After giving birth to my daughter, I weighed over 215 pounds, so I decided to get healthy and fit. I went back to college and earned a degree in dietetics, which I put to use eating for health. I also started exercising, including resistance training. Learning about nutrition changed my life and made me aware of the importance not only of wanting to look good but of feeling good and being strong. I realized the importance of good health and also that I was being a good role model for my daughter. She loved many vegetables and other healthy foods because I was eating that way. After the birth of my grandson, I saw how my daughter was teaching him how to eat well and what she learned from me. I did not perpetuate the unhealthy eating habits I had as a child and teenager.
These past few years my main focus has been on children and their health. My grandchildren have inspired me to want to help other grandparents and parents teach their children to eat healthy from the start. I also have a website designed just for kids so they can learn about nutrition at a very early age and have fun with it. It's those lifelong patterns we learn in childhood that become our routine. Sharing good nutrition and exercise with your children and grandchildren is a bonding experience and shows them you care and love them.
I hope my website will inspire and motivate women, men, families and kids to have the right attitude and determination to become healthier together. Being a grandparent is the best time of your life. I want to help all families realize that staying healthy is the foundation to feeling strong, energetic and happy and to sharing in the joy of life!
